HAD I TOLD YOU SO HIT #1 IN BILLBOARD
As you may know, the duet between Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis on I Told You So hit #2 for two weeks behind Jason Aldean's She's Country and Sugarland's It Happens.  I will detail how the chart history would have been rewritten with repsect to Travis.  Here we go!

    1. Randy Travis would have been the second artist to take a song to #1 twice. Dolly Parton took I Will Always Love You to #1 in 1974 and 1982. The original Travis version of I Told You So hit #1 in 1988. It ended up being the second biggest hit of the year following Ricky Van Shelton's I'll Leave This World Loving You.
    2. For the third decade in a row, Travis would have had multiple #1 hits. During the 1980s he had ten #1s, the 1990s-five, and this decade ONLY ONE (Three Wooden Crosses in 2003).
    3. I consider the first wave of traditional country singers during the 1980s to be John Anderson, Ricky Skaggs, and George Strait. The second would be Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam, and Ricky Van Shelton. Dwight was the first to have a #1 duet with Buck Owens on Streets Of Bakersfield in 1988. Shelton was second on Rockin' Years with Parton in 1991. Travis would have joined them with a #1 duet. He has a top ten duet with George Jones on A Few Ole Country Boys (#8 in 1990).
    4. The number 21 comes into play. The last time a remake went to #1 the second time happened 21 years apart. Don Williams took It Must Be Love to #1 in 1979. Alan Jackson did the same in 2000. Travis took his I Told You So to #1 in 1988. He would have done the same this year, 21 years later.
    What do you think?
