Keith at Opry Tonight!
Keith & Vince Gill are both appearing at the Opry tonight.  I've got a suspicion that Vince is going to invite Keith to become the newest member of the Opry.  After all Keith has done for the Hall of Fame, now is the PERFECT time for this huge honor to be bestowed on Keith.  It just makes sense that this is the NIGHT!  Anybody else agree?

I was there. Sadly no induction of Keith into the Opry but they should very soon or that will be a big mistake. I was actually able to leave my seat (along with many others) & go closer to the stage when Keith performed. I got some pretty good close pictures. Keith performed last & did 2 songs alone & one with Vince Gill. When he finished we were all still clapping so much he turned around to walk back to the mic to sing some more but Vince went to the mic & told everybody goodnight & Keith kind of said OK & walked off stage. But his singing was right on the mark. Even better looking & better sounding in person than he is on TV. Keith was very humble & we heard some GREAT things about him from a lot of the workers in Nashville. They said he is very friendly & when he can he likes to talk with & meet the fans. I think he is what the Opry needs. He paid his dues and he has 11 #1 hits. He'd be a tremendous asset to the Opry.

Why would they induct Taylor Swift? She may say she is country, but that girl is definitely a pop singer (if she is what you call a singer). She is played continually on pop/adult comtemporary stations.

Sure did enjoy listening to Keith's performance then the bonus of being able to watch a few clips of his afternoon concert. Rest your voice Keith so you're "on" for the CMA's.

I agree 27...don't see Taylor being inducted. I, for one, have never expected Keith to be inducted and I don't see his doing the AFTH concert as being a factor. What's that got to do with the Opry? Isn't there some kind of rule that you have to perform once a month to even be considered?

Why would it be Taylor? She doesn't play the Opry like Carrie did...It has to have with it a level of commitment...

"I won't say I told you so but I told you so!" Take a look at TakeCatLeaveSweater's post--she nailed it, and I think she is absolutely right. I am willing to bet that Taylor will be the next inductee into the GOO.

As of the last few years it is a case of "What have you done for me lately" with the GOO. If you can give them an updated hip image like Carrie Underwood you're invited. if you're more traditional and play there often even if you aren't as big a star you're invited, like Craig Morgan was.

I've said it numerous times, but no invite won't hurt Keith's career and I don't think he's looking for one.

Do you remember how often he performed there, say before 2005? Probably he's never been a regular performer, but people dragged him to fill the spot for people who has to pulled out/mo shows?? If you know more, kindly enlighten us. Thanks.

Randy Travis got inducted a year after his first album was out. Don't know how often he did; but he was like a breakout star. He's been around town before he became big so many people know him.

I think you have to show enough love and dedication towards GOO before they grant "it" to you. Or, I think GOO prefer more "traditional" artists. Not Keith's style. But the man will keep on doing whatever he loves to do.

KC/Tim/Faith or Toby ever performed there?? TS?. I wonder why. GOO booed Elvis out of the house; he never came back.

Well, no invitation to join the Opry for Keith. What does an artist have to do to get this honor? Carrie got inducted so fast it was kind of ridiculous in my book. She certainly had not paid her dues. Keith has MORE than paid his dues.

That would be the fullfilment of one of my greatest hopes of the last 10 years...I have dreamed of that for a long, long time...The only thing though...It should be done on a show where it can be seen on television...
