Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May. So we are heading into Memorial Day weekend and Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2009. It is currently celebrated to honor United States men and women who died in the military services of any war or military action.
Got an poignant e-mail from one of our CMT friends this week that expressed to please remember the reason.
Many of you already do remember to tell your children and grandchildren about love of country, duty, sacrifice and caring. Because it is so easy for the reason to get lost in family gatherings, bar-b-ques, picnics, kicking of the summer traveling season by getting away especially this weekend, playing golf and all other recreational activities.
I do want to say not only for those who have died, I personally like to include my gratitude on Memorial Day for those who served our country in the military services and lived. I like to remember those in the military that are currently serving. While I do know our nation also has Armed Forces day and Flag Day, I also include on those days my memories of the fallen because I really don't think sometimes, we can 'remember' enough!
Greetings and Memorial Day memories welcome here!
