Merle's Autobiograph
Over the Easter holiday I read Merle's book 'Sing Me Back Home'   A very good read.  The book I believe is out of print now, but it can be attained from private sellers on Amazon or e-bay.  Merle had a very interesting, but hard life....just glad he put alot of it to good use, learned his lessons and gave us great music.

Patty, Thanks for telling Brenda I said "Hi"...

Dwight is a lovely singer also & he's cute to watch too!!...

I know it was because of Dwight's persuasion that the late Buck Owens came out of retirement in his latter years & we are so thankful for that too...I didn't know about the influence of Merle's writing on Dwight though, Merle is such a prolific songwriter, you can tell he's really lived those songs!!

Thanks for the advice about Dale & Doug's boards, I'll get around to that one of these days too...Heather

Brenda is a sweet gal. I will tell her hi for you. Yes, I am a big fan of Dwight's. He has such respect for those that paved the way for him. I heard him say recently(and this surprised me) that Merle Haggard's songwriting had a much greater influence on him than Buck Owens'. Buck was his hero, his idol, and Buck's music meant alot to him too, but Merle's songwriting was just exceptional.

Heather on Dale Watson and Doug Stone's board, maybe if you wrote a pm to the CMT Adminstrator asking if they could start those boards back up they will. That is what I did for the Buck Owens board and they set it up that day for me.

Thanks for that Patty, I sure hope they don't say anything to you now that I've mentioned it to you, it will be good if they have eased the rules a wee bit!! Can't see what harm we are doing really as we are still on their message boards & I'm sure you are the same as me Patty in telling friends about CMT's website too!!
By the way, do you know if CMT have done away with Dale Watson's message board? I used to post in there but am unable to find a new board for him & his old board no longer exists, also Doug Stone's board seems to have done a disappearing act too, maybe one of these days they'll get them back up & running again, I did notice a lady I used to write to on Dale's message board post on Dwight (Yoakam's) board (VA4DDY) I think her name is Brenda, I know she is also a big Dwight fan, I noticed you in there too Patty, I guessed you were a fan going by your display photo!! Please tell Brenda I said "Hi"...Heather

Hi Heather....CMT had loosened alot of their control over the boards....but to tell you the truth, I still don't understand the rules all that well. I know I have also posted articles url and CMT has allowed it to stay too. What I do is just post and allow CMT to tell me if I am in the guidelines(lol). So far they have allowed everything to stay....so I guess it is okay. Now watch them slap my hand on this tomorrow(lol) I wish I could be more helpful and tell you for sure.

Patty, I hadn't noticed your post before about Merle's autobiography "Sing Me Back Home" I too have this book & just love to revisit it from time to time, Merle certainly had one interesting life, he didn't have it easy that's for sure & you can tell by the lyrics in some of those lovely soulful songs we all adore too...Heather

PS Patty, I noticed on one of your posts you have a website posted, are we permitted to do that now? Just wondering for future reference in case I want to post something, I just thought we weren't allowed!!
