OT - Technical Difficulties with Message Board
Ok, so all of a sudden I cannot get the cmt message board on my home computer. I get a message that says "redirect" or something like that. it's asking about cookies - if I have them blocked. I haven't changed anything on my computer at all.... I usually fake my way through the computer and I'm not sure what the heck cookies are or where I can find them. it's driving me crazy.    Can someone please help me solve this problem? It seems I can only access this board at work, which is where I am now. Any suggestions or info. would be appreciated. Thank you.

    For Google Chrome:

Step 1: Click the icon that looks like a wrench next to the address bar at the top. Select "options" from the drop down menu.

Step 2: Click the "Under the Hood" tab. Scroll down to "Cookie Settings". There are three options in the drop down menu: "allow all cookies", "restrict how third-party cookies can be used", and "block all cookies". Select one of the three. Then click "OK".

If you click on "Show cookies", you will see all the cookies on your computer.

Step 2: Click the "privacy" tab. Set the slider to medium. Then click on "Sites".

Step 3: Type in the url of the website that you wish to allow or block. Then click on either "allow" or "block". Then click on "OK"

    For Firefox:

Step 1: Access your cookies. From the top menu bar, open the tools menu (or Firefox menu for mac). Choose options on the drop down menu (or Preferences for mac).

Step 2: Click on the privacy icon. Look for the box labeled cookies. Check the box next to "Accept cookies from sites". Scroll through the menu until you come to the words "Keep Until" and choose the one that you want.

Step 3: Use the "exceptions" button to make specific exceptions to the rule. Click this button and type the url into the dialog box. Then select either "block", "Allow for Session", or "Allow".

Step 4: close the box. Then click on "show cookies" to see all the cookies on your computer. Then click "OK" to enable cookies. On a Mac, I don't think you have to click "OK". I think you just close the "Preferences" box.

Cookies are pieces of text placed on a Web surfer's computer by a Web site for possible future use by that particular Web site. If you, the surfer, go back and visit that Web site again, the server for that site will grab that piece of text to identify or track you.
