Performances
I taped the Grammy's so didn't watch very much of it live.  I did watch part of it up until Desperate Housewives came on and, unfortunately, caught Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus singing together.  Part of me wanted to turn it off and part of me wanted to watch ... kind of like when you pass a car accident.  I just don't get why these two are so popular.  The performance was terrible!!!

I am a country fan so most of the other performances I didn't care for. Keith was great on both his songs & I loved it when he highlighted the word "Sunday". Kenny sang "Better As a Memory" one of my favs from his cd. (Too bad he had to follow that up with his tacky interview with Playboy!) Liked Sugarland's performance - I just can't listen to the actual meaning of the song 'cause it really is about a women cheating with a married man, which is NOT good. Alison was fine too. Congrats for her awards. Carrie KILLED Last Name (especially after the 2 rather lower performed U2 & Coldplay). She can sing. Taylor was Taylor - a self grandizing woman who can not sing and apparently LOVES to go on national tv regularly to embarrass herself. If Miley Cyrus sounds better than you - that is SAD!

The whole show was good IMO. I really liked Coldplay, their song Viva La Vida just got me up and dancing. Carrie morphed into a top-notch rock-chick and delivered a knock-out version of Last Name. Her command of the stage was masterful, I was really impressed. I thought Sugarland did a fine job with "Stay" also. I liked Adele, the Four Tops tribute, Paul McCartney and David Grohl, just to name a few more favorite performances.

thread, I figured I'd get that kind of response from you. You know, you might be in the minority, most reviewers have her performance either the best or the top two. But, that's cool, we all like what we like.

    Americansongwriter.com critique:

They did a decent job, but both U2 and Coldplay got blown out of the water by Carrie Underwood, who seemed possessed by the raging spirits of Lyrnyrd Skynrd and Fleetwood Mac. With badass female lead guitar player in tow, Underwood destroyed the stage with the down-and-dirty “Last Name.” Did she always sing like this? Her performance shows you what pop music is designed to do, more than rock even please, perform, and impress.

It's funny when you take a basic rockish country song and turn up the juice with a rocker guitar chick, you get a pretty darn good show. They think she's pop, well in last night's case, she was more rock/country/pop blast of energy with powerful vocals.

I think Molly ruin that song. The girl just can't sing.

He sang that song and he did such an awesome job! To me, thanks to Kenny, country music was well represented performance wise last night. (smiles)

God bless you and him always!!!

To me the best performances were Kenny Chesney and then the very best being saved for last: the Alison & Robert medley at the end of the show. (smiles)

God bless you and them and Kenny always!!!

P.S. I thank Kenny so much for having what I think is one of the most traditional country songs that he has done in a long time be what he sings for his very first Grammy awards show performance. (smiles)

I liked Jennifer Nettles performance of "stay". Even though I really don't like the song, I'll give her credit for her singing. I liked Carrie's rocked out version of Last Name with the rocker chick guitar player. I'm glad she won her 4th grammy.
As for the Miley/Taylor show, it was just that, a show. The song is weak, and the singing was weak. But, it was for the tween tv crowd, so they did ok with it.
