According to BIG MACHINE RECORDS, TAYLOR SWIFT has surpassed MERCURY/NASHVILLE artist SHANIA TWAIN's record for having the longest-charting album on the NIELSEN SOUNDSCAN album sales chart. TAYLOR's self-titled debut album has been on the Top 200 chart for 152 weeks as of OCTOBER 3rd, breaking SHANIA's record of 151 weeks on OCTOBER 7, 2000.

If TAYLOR's album remains ranked among the Top 100 albums in the coming weeks, she will surpass Rock group NICKELBACK's album "All The Right Reasons" as the longest-charting album of the decade (156 weeks).

Did see a video of her at Mall of America singing Teardrops, her stage performance was similar to a tape of Shania at 10 years old at a tavern in her home town; Taylor was about 7 years older than Shania at the time.

Shania has several DVD's of her live stage shows (i.e. Chicago, Dallas), don't see any of Taylor stage shows (reply if you know of any); Taylor has been on tour but with other artists.

Taylor started her career as a teenager. Her audience base is very young people (pre-teenagers, teen's and 20 something's) who enjoy bubble gum music. She's talented both writing and singing to her crowd of fans. Shania was 20 years older than Taylor when she was "discovered" by Mutt. imho, Shania has a much better voice and she too writes many of her songs. Believe Taylor also has a partner who co-authors her songs, similar to Mutt partnering with Shania when they were married. Shania honed her talent's on stage when she worked at a resort in Canada when she was in her early 20's + started performing "on stage" (local taverns) at the "old" age of 8!

Never saw Taylor on stage (live tour) but would venture to guess that her stage performance ain't in the same league with Shania's.
