URGENT!!! My mom needs help, time is running out!!
Hello, My name is Tori. I am not sure how to apply to have help from Ty, but my mom desperately needs it. I know there are so many out there who need help and I truly believe my mom is one of those who deserve it.  My mother was diagnosed with a disease called Friedreich's ataxia. This disease is a rare disease and there is no cure. It is a disease that affects the heart and muscles. My mom was unaware that she had this disease until I was born.  In some cases the symptoms of the disease are not present until a traumatic experience occurs. My mothers traumatic experience was giving birth to me. Since then the disease has really taken a toll on her body. She has been through so much. She was finally able to get her dream house about 2 years ago. This dream house is now being ruined as her scooter broke and instead of replacing it with one that fits her size, they gave her a wheelchair that is designed for a very hefty man (roughly 300 to 400 lbs.) ...

This dream house is now being ruined as her scooter broke and instead of replacing it with one that fits her size, they gave her a wheelchair that is designed for a very hefty man (roughly 300 to 400 lbs.) and she is only 160 lbs. This chair is not able to get through the doors without putting holes and scratches in and on the walls. She also has a very hard time getting through the house in this chair. The problem is that she was in a car accident where someone ran a stop sign and hit her and since then she has been confined to a wheelchair where the disease just took over. My mom has always fought her disease ever since I can remember and now it seems as though she has given up on ever being able to walk again. The only way to keep this disease from completely taking over is to excercise and stay as heathy as possible, which my mom can no longer do.  It hurts to see her struggle like this. She has had a lot of trouble getting the things she needs for her home in order for her to get around and take care of my little brother. I think she deserves to have her home handicapped and also to get a handicapped minivan. She can no longer leave the house unless someone can take her out and my step dad is always working to try to support the family. There are times that they have to wait to get groceries, etc. until someone has some spare time to take her out.  She can no longer clean her house and has to rely on my 17 year old brother and stepfather to keep things neat which rarely happens. My mom is always helping others no matter what they may need and she always puts others needs before her own. She has been through so much recently and I can tell she feels helpless. She lives in new jersey and I live in Virginia and I am not able to be there for her like I want to be. I can't afford to live in New Jersey as I am 23 with 4 children ages 5,3,1, and 2 months and things are just too expensive for us up there. Some of the things my mom has been through in the past few years have really put her through the ringer. She almost lost her son-in-law (my husband) 2 years ago when 2500 lbs of steel fell on him in a work related accident. Not only was she upset, but she stayed strong and was there for me as I was 9 months pregnant trying to take care of my husband. She has also helped us financially through the past few years so we would not end up homeless and it has left her not having enough money to do what she needs to help her with her disease. I wish I could pay her enough to make everything okay, but I just don't have it. She also almost lost her grandson (my 3 year old) this past June. He was admitted to our local hospital with a serious staph infection that had gotten into his blood stream and came so close to killing him. He went in for emergency surgery and antibiotics the night of his third birthday and they told us he may not make it. He is now handicapped. She stayed strong for me through that time even though I know she was scared out of her mind and just wanted to cry. There are so many things I could list, but the main point is she is a wonderful woman who is bent on being able to take care of herself like she has done for so many years and I would like to try to find a way for that to continue. She deserves to live a happy  life without worry. She always does everything in her power to make everyone happy. It's time for someone to do something to make her happy. PLEASE I am begging you help my mom. I worry about her everyday and just want to know that she will be safe in her own home.
