Dee, I liked the video too, but I doubt that Kelli or the DCC had any input there. That guy is a writer for Conan and that segment was probably done without consulting the DCC. I like the way he handled it. Maybe he opened some eyes.

Whitney is a lot better looking than L'il Wayne anyway.

Thanks for the post Dee! I thought it was pretty funny. Poor Whitney. I doubt she had any idea this would be such a big deal. I'm actually pretty amazed that the story has garnered so much attention. Note to self: don't ever be famous in on any level so I can do whatever I want. I think I'm good on that one.

Whitney has not been released. Thank God! She didn't deserve to be. I was watching Conan O'Brien last nite and it looks like NBC, the Cowboys, and maybe even Kelli are trying to put a positive spin on this. This may be NBC's response to FOX as well. Take a look at this from Conan's show last nite. I thought the bit was funny and the audience reacted positively to the whole thing.

Interestingly enough, the story made the O'Reilly Factor on FOX last night. He was none to pleased with the blackface costume.

I hope they don't ditch her over this.

This whole subject matter makes me very angry and I'm only commenting one more time just to make a point. Whitney attended a PRIVATE party first of all, secondly if her intent was to mock or imitate Lil Wayne in a negative or derogative manner then YES it would be a racist act. It's my understanding Whitney actually LOVES Lil Wayne therefore I doubt seriously her intent was racially motivated. Wouldn't Tia, Jackie and Mia be offended if that were so??? When in fact they are actually defending and supporting her. It's a shame this whole situation has been completely blown out of proportion by the media and narrow minded misinformed public. I feel bad for Whitney and wish nothing but the best for her. She is a very talented young lady who doesn't deserve this public flogging.

I noticed last night that Judy answered a question about it on the DCC site. She wrote how sweet she is and how bad she feels about stirring up controversy. If the organization was going to release Whitney, I do not believe Judy would have addressed to an individual. They would release a statement to the media. I believe Whitney is safe and I'm pretty certain the girls got a talking to about their choice of future costumes.

Thank you Ashley! I hate what the media has done to her... they have blown this out of proportion. What is it that people find so offensive? Would they feel better if Whitney was removed? She is a sweet, sweet, girl with a ton of talent.

Deek- I think you might be misinformed. She didn't have just a black face. All of the skin which was exposed was black. THIS IS IN NO WAY RACIST.

Is she just supose to ignore the fact that Lil Wayne has much much darker skin than her? Nobody would know who she was if she didn't use all that self tanner.

This was not a race issue until someone said she shouldn't dress up as someone with different skin color than her.

Baltgirl, you make some good points but, to be fair to Charlotte and Kelli give them some time. I'm sure this is uncharted territory not only about the possible racial overtones but, also, the effects of new technologies. "Law", for lack of a better word, has always played "catch-up" to technology.

Here's how they should handle this IMO...Interview African Americans of all ages within the Dallas Cowboys. If "Phil" or even "Jay" doesn't have an issue with it then, there may be no issue.

Edit add...Alex B. wasn't selected because she had speeding tickets. It was because of lack of integrity. Also, these type of things "should" be handled internally. Who externally is supposed to handle it? This is still a Private Sector country and this is a private sector business. The public's input is that of a paying customer and nothing more.

I don't get it - Alex Benvenuto lost her chance to be on the squad last year because she had some speeding tickets, and Brandi was reprimanded (kicked off?) for posting photos of her in a bikini contest (even though the DCC makes a lot of money off of their women in bikinis). Why are those such serious offenses but this highly volatile issue is being swept under the rug by the DCC and only being dealt with "internally"? Offended fans want answers!

I'd love to know what Charlotte thinks, some of her cheerleaders aren't looking so good right now.

This is all pretty benign if you ask me but, some points should be made...

1) Where did the 'spirit' of Halloween change? Aren't Halloween costumes supposed to be scary like the Wolf Man or the Devil or Ghosts or my ex-wife or something? Maybe lil Wayne is scary and I just missed something.

2) Sometimes it starts out very innocent like here. An African American boss of mine at one time when I was productive and had a job was named Sam and a white co-worker innocently walked in one morning and exchanged pleasantries and said "Hey Sambo". There was a big pow wow about it but, no one was fired or anything.

3) Just blame Kandi! She's no longer an active DCC.

I'm not sure if I understand what you're saying? That younger people are more accepting of people of color? If that's what you meant I agree. I know racism still exists but I think quite a lot has changed in the last 30ish years.

So it was a little odd to say such a comment. I was thinking of being Oprah next year for halloween.....anyone think I can just wear a dark wig and people will know who I am? NO! I will paint myself black because that's what Oprah is!!! If I go as a man next year and I wear a mustache, will that make me sexist??? There is no getting around it: blackface is considered racist, even in 2009. It just is. Youth today may be colorblind but there history to blackface that will not be ignored by some. That said, I believe young people do not percieve people of color the same as their elders. What has happened is a fascinating social commentary. I hope the Dallas Cowboys Organization can see that.
