Though I can see both sides of this issue, I lean towards agreeing that artists should be compensated when their music is played on the radio. Exceptions could be made for public radio or small and minority owned stations. The radio stations around here make us listen to endless advertisements, so I'm pretty sure they're making some big bucks. The least they could do is pay Alison whenever they play her music, which, come to think of it, is never. Well, anyway, in the unlikely event that she gets played, she should get paid.

The good news is, Internet and satellite radio, which are the ones most likely to play Alison's music, do pay royalties to musicians.

If you take the time to read this article, please also read the links provided, to get a better picture of the whole story. This is a battle that has been going on for some time now. Royalties are something that commercial radio and the major labels are fighting against, because they know it's one more thing designed to take profits from them, that were gained by others hard work.
