Alison recored the lyrics and gets a fee for the rights to use her voice.The only thing is if you listen her voice is faster or slowed down distort her voice.Anyone who uses the artist music ,Vocal or instrumental has to make some kind of changes.They get royalty fee for the use of their work.She could of sang the whole song and they took parts out that the producer wanted.What I'm saying its not her best work.When I listen for a backup singer or vocal of an artist I use special headset to tale out dist......

I have listened to the song, I actually bought the CD when it came out because Alison was on it. I was confused by what you were trying to say. At first when I posted she performed with him, you said I was wrong, and then it seemed like you said that vocal ad-libs meant that her voice was "electronically added." I've listened to some samples...out of curiosity more than anything else. Although I enjoy Jerry's playing, Unfortunately for me, I've heard so many versions of some of these songs through the years, they've lost some of the luster for me. I'm also a firm believer, because of the reason for carols, especially those with religious meaning, that they should be performed with the lyrics. Thank's Confusedpunk90.No I haven't heard this I do have a E-mail with Ron Block.I bought his banjo DVD and his hand written tabs with sign autograph.Ron was why my youngest son(now 23)got me to go to a AKUS show in 2003.He likes the style Ron plays on the guitar.He is into Christian Rock now but still plays Ron Block songs.I stayed with Akus and have also gone to Dan's Concerts when I get a chance.The last time I seen Ron was at a Sierra Hull Concert and Alison's Opry show and the Wildhorse Saloon.I wil......

Richnerde: On a different subject, have you heard anything about Ron Block doing an album with Scottish bagpiper Fred Morrison? It's called "Outlands" and was produced by Gary Paczosa. It also features Tim O'Brien. I listened to some of the songs on Morrison's myspace site. Pretty interesting stuff. I know you're also a fan of Ron Block, so I hope you check it out. When I get a chance, I'm going to try to track down some more songs off the album, and hopefully find a little more out about the project....

richnerde ~ That's not what vocal ad-libs mean. To ad-lib means to improvise. I agree that Alison's vocals were recorded at another studio, at a different time. But, the majority of the time a harmony vocalist comes and sings, it is over an already existing track. It is very rare for two artists to be recording at the same time. Even AKUS record their portions separately and put them all together....

Finerplace there are so many talented artist that don't make it.when I went to the special at the Wild Horse Saloon 2 month ago there was five young artist that only play clubs and they were great.Alison has been to several clubs lately here in Nashville and came on stage to preform with them.She is looking for talent and songs and I was surprised that she came up on stage to encourage new artist to keep on playing and don't quit.She was having so much fun with them.She still is funny and make everyone l......

confusepunk90,I did some research on this.I liston to the songs on this album.Found out that this album was a remastered,remix album.Alison Voice is Vocal Ad-Libs which means her voice was Electronicly added.She was not in the same studio.Found at Artistdotcom has all of her music cedits and this was the only one that was't live.That is why it sounds like a lot of girl singers.If you're in search of vocal phrases and adlibs to give your instrumental tracks that little extra or to add a new color or idea ......

Personally, considering on how many people's albums Alison did something, I still consider someone just putting in a plug for one of those artists "spamming" unless they are posters who are anyway occasionally active here!
But that's just my opinion.
Got some interesting info out of it though! Off to hunt down that song now!Though having heard the guy, I don't expect too much of it. Sure Alison WILL sound great however. :)...
