CMT Poll Projects Taylor Swift as Big Winner at CMA Awards

I don't like fan voted awards. Its not a measure of an artist's talent, but a measure of their fanbases' persistence in voting. I also love seeing my favorites get an award, but how awful that other talented people that have that one song that is even better not get their just reward because their fanbase doesnt vote as strongly or doesnt even know about the voting? Is Anyone Else Happy That…

Im an older Carrie fan so this is coming from a different perspective of you apparently younger fans. First, I dont like the video because it doesn't fit the song. Wheres the cowboy, the star of the song? Or a COWBOY football player in uniform? It could've still been a saloon setting but more relevant to the song. Congrats Steel Magnolia!!!!!

Last year was first year for CYD and it was judge selection last year also, no voting by the public. I like that myself, otherwise, its whoever has the biggest fanbase or more devoted fanbase wins, not necesarily the most talented. I think Scott favored the top 3 and imo, will sign all 3. Its his company's money thats going into the winner so naturally he wants the one he thinks he can get the biggest return on. I think after top 3, he was letting the best edge the others out and SM had been singing...... more

The Magnus Review - Final Battle

I loved this finale! Loved both of SM songs, though I loved their original song the best. Its very catchy, can't quit singing it. I love their performance skills as well as singing. Some people are just singers, others are entertainers. These two are entertainers and have the vocal skills. I didnt care for either of Rockets songs tonight. CMT's Can You Duet finalists performed Thursday (July 30) at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville during a luncheon hosted by the Nashville Superspeedway and Toyota Motorsports. Big Machine Records president Scott Borchetta, who is also a Can You Duet judge, introduced the three acts -- Ryan & Avalon, JB Rocket and Steel Magnolia.

I agree Det. I didnt think at the beginning this years talent was as good as last years, but I was wrong. Glad to see C and W will sing on the finale. I love their new single. American Track

Ive rewatched this weeks show several times. My opinion of the SM song did a complete reversal, I hated it at first, now I love it! My opinion of the other duos is unchanged. JBR was good but I just dont like that song. I still get the Johnny Cash vibe from the American Track song and performance. I think Ryan sounded like Johnny in his last video even. Rate your favorite performances

I originally didnt like SM I Need You, but I reran it a few times and realized it was Joshs emotion, more so then nerves, showing in his voice. I fell in love with it. Im not a tim / faith fan so didnt hear their version. I dont know why it bothers kenny so much the difference in height for jb rocket, he and john rich are certainly not in the same height range. btw, I too loved Air Supply. Ryan reminded me a lot of Johnnie Cash in his last song he recorded. The whole song had that Cash vibe too, imo.... more

steel magnolia omg

I love SM! Their attitude on stage always fits the song lyrics which I think makes it more special. I dont find Meghan having an attitude off camera at all. Her simple thank you when the judges comment is never arrogant,imo. Wynona said they were riveting and irresistible. He is irresistible, I find her riveting. I cant take my eyes off her when she performs. They bring something new each time. Love their voices.... more

Not surprised, disappointed

I bought it two days later. Couldnt get it out of my head though they were never favorites of mine. I didnt see what the hoopla was about regarding JB Rockets song. Nice melody but lyrics were nothing special. Avalon's song was good but all their songs sound the same. SM song was good but not the best of the night. I think they want the whole package. Song writing, vocals, stage presence and vision. Vocals dont seem to be the predominant requirement in music anymore of any genre.... more

O'Shea (Season 2 Duo/Contestants)

I get what the judges were saying about the Oshays being too slick. Their "crying" was fabulous and their other performances were vocally good, but I didnt feel anything when they sang. No connection at all. A bit robotic I think. I think they were better then R and A because Avalon sings flat but she writes a good song and has stage presence. The Stellas never really showed improvement. They chose the same type of songs, didnt really perform and their song choices werent great songs to pick for a ...... more

The Stellas have a contract with an Indid label, probably a Canadian one. Not sure, but maybe where u pay the expense to cut your own record and they distribute it. I downloaded their original song off Itunes today. If they had a contract with a label in USA, how could they be eligible to compete for a contract with Scott? I saw posted somewhere they signed with that Indie label one or two years ago.... more

The Magnus Review II - Original Song Night

I watched the rerun today and the only reason I can think of that R and A were saved instead of the Stellas is performance. The Stellas have never really "performed" a song, they sing it. These days with videos, apparently singing isnt primary concern to the labels. I would love to know what Naomi really thinks of R and A. By her comment 2 weeks in a row, Im thinking she might have picked differently this week. I just think Scott is calling all the shots.... more

I watched Nashville Star and I love Can You Duet, but I've noticed one common thing about the people who visit the web sites for both shows.

I think Avalon is pretty and seems nice but I just don't think she can sing. I think Palin is pretty too but I don't think thats why people that don't care for her feel that way. On the reverse, do guys dig the pretty chicks that can't sing because of their looks? lol... more
